Burma’s next parliament may be devoid of Muslims

Myanmar will have its election on November 8. As a result of government policies promoting racism, bigotry and intolerance against the Muslims, most Muslim affiliated parties have been denied the right to participate in the election. Even previously elected Muslim MPs were denied the right to contest the election. All these measures, of course, to ensure that the new parliament won't have anyone representing Muslims, who make up probably 10% of the population of Myanmar. Democracy without representation is no democracy.

The election will thus be a sham by all measures.
