BEN EHRENREICH’S NEW PALESTINE BOOK EXPLORES LIFE ON “PLANET HEBRON”

The early 20th-century Colombian writer José María Vargas Vila wrote in La Muerte del Cóndor, “When life is torture, suicide is a duty.” Yet for the Palestinian people of whom Ben Ehrenreich writes so elegantly, the duty is to remain. The Palestinian poet Tawfiq Ziad wrote:
we shall remain,
guard the shade of the fig
and olive trees,
ferment rebellion in our children
as yeast in the dough.
Here is an excellent article by Charles Glass, former ABC News chief Middle East correspondent, on a recently published book on Palestine.
