Iran Continues to Comply With Nuclear Deal

Iran is implementing all nuclear-related commitments

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Amano Yukiya, has reiterated that Iran continues to be in full compliance with all nuclear-related commitments, as well as all terms of the P5+1 nuclear deal signed in 2015.

Amano’s comments were related to a recent IAEA document affirming the same thing. The documents are regularly offered to those involved in the nuclear deal, but are not made public. Amano was confirming that the report was accurate.

This is particularly important since President Trump withdrew the US from the nuclear deal, claiming Iran to be in violation. Since then, Trump has been trying to convince other Western signatories to dishonor the pact, and the IAEA is going to great measures to underscore that Iran is not actually violating anything.

Iranian officials have expressed hope that it would be possible to save the deal, even without the US participating. So far, however, Europe has struggled to deliver the promised sanction relief, with US threats keeping much of the international banking system from allowing trade with Iran.
