A message from Burma Task Force

The somber-faced 16-year-old was standing silent, as I talked to others in a narrow alley between two hastily-erected rows of huts at the Bangladesh-Burma border.
I asked young Noor Muhammad where his hut was. He did not have one. “I just hang around the nearby TV tower.” He’s one of the younger survivors of the Aug. 30, 2017 massacre in Tula Toli, a village on the border of Burma. Noor said his mother and father were murdered, along with his four sisters and two brothers. He was the youngest and the only survivor.  Not quite knowing what to say, I hugged him.
There are thousands of parent-less children and youth like Noor, orphaned by the genocide in Burma. But when I looked in his eyes, still alive with the optimism of youth, I saw the possibility for a better world.
Our actions, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, will help determine if we achieve a better world for our long-suffering Rohingya brothers and sisters like Noor.

The attention of the media and the public has largely moved on from the Rohingya genocide, but we did not and will not forget. We can continue to work together to win freedom for the Rohingya. Here's how you can help.
Call your Senator:
Senate Resolution  S. 1186 is the “Bill to Promote Democracy and Human Rights in Burma.” We need to generate support for this bill, as it will allow the U.S. government to levy economic sanctions on Burma's military officials who are complicit in the atrocities against the Rohingya.
Please call your Senator's office, asking them to sponsor if they have not done so.

Please Donate:
Please donate generously this Ramadan. Your zakat can help stop the genocide of Rohingyas. Already we have come far, organizing Rohingya Advocacy Day in Washington D.C., filing to take Burma to the International Criminal Court, and bringing Burma's Rohingya, Kachin, and Karen together in common cause for the first time ever.
Make Dua:
Last but not least, please make dua for the Rohingya as you make dua for yourself and your family. And make sure that the imam remembers Rohingyas in the masjid as we all pray together.
May God continue to give us the blessings we enjoy and may He bless us to remember those of His creation in need.
Peace
Burma Task Force Team
