Here’s the latest Zionist lie - Last week, in a January 29th headline reading “The war in Gaza: More babies, more aid - and Hamas adopts the "Hezbollah model” Walla! - a Tel Aviv based online platform owned by The Jerusalem Post - claimed: “According to IDF figures,1 more than 60,000 babies were born in the Gaza Strip in 2025, and at the same time, about 650 aid trucks enter the Gaza Strip every day,2 exceeding UN requirements.” This came on the heels of the Zionist State acknowledging the Gaza Ministry of Health estimate of 71,000 Palestinians murdered by Israel.

First: I’ve written about this elsewhere (like this post and every essay and article about the genocide I have published) but this bears repeating: the Gaza Ministry of Health calculates their numbers based on the people who die in and around Gaza’s few remaining hospitals. This means that those being counted have been able to make it to the hospital. This means those people have had transport, have decided the risks of being bombed or shot are worth it, and then successfully made it to the hospital before they died. Based on what I’ve seen, read, and heard, most people have not have that kind of access and couldn’t take that risk through most of the genocide (especially before the so-called “ceasefire,” when daily massacres resulted in exorbitant loss of life). Add to that the number of people who have been vaporized by bombs, buried under destroyed buildings, or simply murdered at home and buried instead of being taken to the morgue. I often quote this July 2024 article in The Lancet, in which: “in recent conflicts, such indirect deaths range from three to 15 times the number of direct deaths.” 15x the number of direct deaths would calculate the death toll at over a million people.

Over a million people.

The only reason the Zionist State is accepting the Gaza Ministry of Health’s numbers is because they know that the real numbers are actually so much higher.

Second: Dr. Munir al-Bursh, the Director General of the Gaza Ministry of Health, responded to the 60,000 babies number in a Telegram post titled “Debunking the Occupation’s Claims About Births and Attempts to Deny Genocide:”

“The truth is not written through propaganda or inflated figures, but revealed through verified health data that exposes the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe.

In 2025, the number of live births reached only 50,000, marking an 11% decrease compared to pre-war levels. During the same year, 4,900 newborns were recorded with low birth weight, representing an increase of more than 60% compared to before the war, reflecting severe maternal malnutrition and the collapse of healthcare services.

A total of 4,100 premature births were documented, babies born too early because their mothers lived under bombardment and siege instead of safety and stability.

There were 615 intrauterine deaths recorded, a figure that doubled compared to pre-war data, indicating that even unborn lives were not spared. In addition, 457 deaths occurred immediately after birth, reflecting a 50% increase compared to previous levels, as newborns are born into conditions where basic medical care is absent.

Furthermore, 322 newborns were documented with congenital anomalies, at a rate of 64 cases per 10,000 live births, compared to 32 per 10,000 before the war. These anomalies are not random or natural occurrences, but the direct result of bombardment, siege, starvation, and the destruction of the healthcare system.
By inflating the number of births to 60,000, the occupation attempts to promote a false narrative denying genocide.

Yet genocide is not measured solely by the number of those born, but by those never born, those born struggling to survive, and those who died before their first cry.

In Gaza, the womb is no longer a safe place for life. It has become another battlefield, and childhood itself stands as evidence.”

Lena sent me Dr. al-Bursh’s post, along with the Hebrew-language propaganda article at Walla. Responding to the Zionist claims of 60,000 babies, she said, “this is an interesting way to combat that, talking about babies who actually won’t be living a quality life because of the health issues they face - malnutrition, not hitting milestones, either physically or cognitively. We are seeing a lot of babies born with what is being called brain atrophy, not even diagnosed as a neurological condition because there are no MRI machines in Gaza.”

Lena then told me about a child I will call A, who:

“was born with a case of hydrocephalus, his head is enormous, completely swollen, he’s had three or four operations where shunts are placed under the skull area but these surgeries weren’t successful. This is a case that needs evacuation just for simple treatment like an MRI and simple surgeries but he will never recuperate or live a normal life and thus probably won’t be evacuated because there’s no completion treatment. So if he went to Jordan he would probably be sent back after an operation or two that doesn’t really improve his condition.”

Lena reminded me that many countries who claim to support medical evacuations from Gaza won’t accept a child like A because they do not want to take responsibility for such drastic, expensive, and potentially hopeless medical cases: “So even these babies being born in Gaza, it’s going to be a lifetime, a generational, struggle for them.”

In some good news, yesterday, the jury in the first Filton 24 trial either acquitted or refused to convict Charlotte Head, Samuel Corner, Leona Kamio, Fatema Zainab Rajwani, Zoe Rogers and Jordan Devlin of all charges (for more background on Pal Action, the Filton 24, the action against Elbit systems, and the hunger strikers, please read this). One way of understanding this is that the jury UNDERSTOOD that destroying weapons used to genocide Palestinians is not a criminal activity.

The Refaat Alareer Camp campaign supports three tent encampments for some of the most vulnerable families;

The Return Home Campaign is providing essentials like warm clothes and blankets;

And the new Ramadan Campaign is not just raising money to provide meals for folks who are fasting for Ramadan, but also to build a water desalination plant.
