Understanding Hindutva

Hindu fascism (packaged as nationalism) is a serious movement that needs serious scrutiny by unbiased researchers. The ruling BJP of India is part of the Sangh parivar that promotes Hindutvadi fascism. As the leader of largest democracy in our world, prime minister Narendra Modi, who also heads the BJP, therefore, is an important personality and his deep rooted ties with Hindutvadi fascism cannot be ignored. Although written in 2002, before Modi's ascension into power in India, h ere is an important link to understand probably everything you want to know about the ruling BJP and the Sangh Parivar, the purveyors of Hindutvadi or Hindu fascism. “The Iranian Threat” - an article by Prof. Noam Chomsky

Prof. Noam Chomskey of the MIT is an expert whose views are always worth-sharing. Here below is his latest article on this subject. ------------------------------ “The Iranian Threat” Who Is the Gravest Danger to World Peace? By Noam Chomsky Throughout the world there is great relief and optimism about the nuclear deal reached in Vienna between Iran and the P5+1 nations, the five veto-holding members of the U.N. Security Council and Germany. Most of the world apparently shares the assessment of the U.S. Arms Control Association that “the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action establishes a strong and effective formula for blocking all of the pathways by which Iran could acquire material for nuclear weapons for more than a generation and a verification system to promptly detect and deter possible efforts by Iran to covertly pursue nuclear weapons that will last indefinitely.” There are, however, striking exceptions to the general enthusiasm: the Uni...

Hindu Fascist outposts in the USA

In our globalized world, many of the fascist and terrorist groups are financed from people and groups that live elsewhere, far away from the killing fields where the effects of fascism and terrorism are faced. Hindu fascist (or so-called nationalist) groups like their counterparts have mastered their art of collecting material support from far away places like the Middle East, Singapore, EU and the USA. The fascist groups associated with the RSS, VHP and Hindu Mahasabha or more commonly called the Sangh Parivar - precursors to the ruling BJP of Narendra Modi - have been quite active in such fund-raising activities since the birth days of fascism in Europe. Here below is some info on this subject as it pertains to activities inside the USA. =========================== Hindu Nationalism in the United States: A Report on Nonprofit Groups by J.M. Executive Summary 1. Over the last three decades, a movement toward Hinduizing India—advancing the status of Hindus toward political...

Price of TSA's scanners

Do you know how much does it cost American tax payers and travelers in getting their bodies scanned at the airports? It is a gigantic number, $160 million. As I maintained it is a stupid idea to begin with since anyone trying to blow up people don't have to go through the scanner to doing the harm. The killer can rather choose to detonate in the midst of all those hundreds waiting at any of the security places, if it chooses to! So, why all those fuss about security, which does not buy anyone's security? Nonetheless, we have gotten used to long queues and harassment, let alone extra fee that are charged for all such measures. Here is an interesting article on the subject that is worth reading.

What can Americans do to stop their interventionist wars?

How many countries did the USA intervene or attack in the post 9/11 era? According to Ivan Eland who writes for the antiwar.com , "Since 9/11, the United States has flailed away and attacked or invaded at least seven Muslim countries. (I say "at least" because, in contravention of the U.S. Constitution, American presidents now run secret overseas conflicts, including the latest drone wars, without public knowledge or the consent of their representatives in Congress.) Since U.S. (non-Muslim) military presence or intervention in Muslim countries was the original motivator for the 9/11 attacks, doubling down on a failed policy seemed a poor bet among many expert analysts, even during the period of hysteria after the attacks on the Pentagon and twin towers."   " The obvious place to start is Afghanistan. Instead of just blasting the central al Qaeda group, the perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks, in Afghanistan and Pakistan and calling it a day, the United States d...

Jewish Rabbis are for peace and not war

The nuclear peace deal with Iran is unacceptable to Likudniks like Benjamin Netanyahu, AIPAC and other warmongers, let alone the 'Israel-firsters' within the 'Amen Corner' in Capitol Hill. However, many Jewish Americans and peaceful Jews throughout the world are in favor of the peace deal. O ver 300 rabbis sent a letter to Congress on Monday declaring their support for the Iran nuclear deal and urging lawmakers to endorse it.  You can read the full text of the news by clicking here, or read below. =========================================== "We encourage the members of the Senate and the House of Representatives to endorse this agreement," read the Aug. 17 letter signed by 340 rabbis. The  letter  was distributed by Ameinu, which describes itself as a "national, multi-generational community of progressive Jews in North America." The group in a statement described the signatories as rabbis "from all streams of Judaism." The letter ...

Kashmiris of India observed the 'Black Day' on August 15

Major part of Kashmir is under Indian occupation. The Kashmiris  have been denied the right to choose their fate since India became an independent country on August 15, 1947. On both sides of the Line of Control separating Pakistan and India and across the world, they observed India’s Independence Day Saturday as ‘black day’ to convey the message to the world that India has illegally occupied their homeland. The day was marked by complete strike in occupied Kashmir. You can read the full story by clicking here .
