CAIR Says U.S. Must Not Allow Israel to Continue Its Slaughter in Lebanon or Derail Ceasefire
Muslim civil rights group also condemns Israel’s murder of Al Jazeera journalist in Gaza
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today said the U.S. government must not allow Israel to continue its slaughter of civilians in Lebanon and derail the ceasefire agreement with Iran after Israeli forces killed at least 254 people and wounded 1,165 others across Lebanon today.
The brutal attacks came despite the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran, which called for a halt to attacks on Lebanon.
CAIR also condemned Israel’s murder of an Al Jazeera journalist in Gaza. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, “Israel was responsible for two-thirds of all press killings in both 2025 and 2024.”
In a statement, Washington, D.C., based CAIR said:
“Once again, Israel’s genocidal government is trying to derail a ceasefire and ensure peace does not succeed by slaughtering innocent civilians. The Trump administration must stop them from carrying out this brutal plan. Israel has demonstrated time and again that it cannot be trusted to abide by peace agreements. It is time for our government to cut all support for Israel’s atrocities.
“As we have seen in recent years, Israel also attempts to silence the journalists who expose its crimes to the world. Media professionals worldwide must speak out in defense of their colleagues.”
