Message from Electronic Intifada

Earlier this month, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that prosecutors at the International Criminal Court in The Hague are asking judges to approve arrest warrants for the ultra-far-right Israeli ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir, along with another official and two military officers.

So far, there has been no confirmation from the prosecutor’s office. Meanwhile Karim Khan, the chief prosecutor, has reportedly been cleared of allegations of sexual misconduct that are widely believed to be related to Israel’s efforts to sabotage the court.

Khan, who has been on leave since last year, may soon return to work. But should he?

On today’s program we’ll be joined by Mouin Rabbani to talk about the ICC, the pursuit of justice for victims of the genocide and the broader challenges faced by the Palestinian national movement.

Rabbani is a nonresident senior fellow at the Middle East Council on Global Affairs, co-editor of Jadaliyya and author of the forthcoming book Gaza Apocalypse.

Jon Elmer will cover week 12 of the battle in South Lebanon where Hizballah drone operations continue to vex the Israeli military and exact a costly toll on both vehicles and soldiers, claiming casualties including Israel’s top armored brigade commander.

And amid a horrific spate of Israeli massacres in Gaza and Lebanon, Nora Barrows-Friedman will update us on the news.

Please join Jon, Nora, Ali Abunimah, Tamara Nassar and Asa Winstanley for all this and more.
