Israel violated Lebanon 'ceasefire' nearly 3,500 times since April

Israel has carried out nearly 3,500 airstrikes on south Lebanon since the so-called ceasefire was announced in April, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said in a statement on 8 June.

“The total Israeli violations of the ceasefire, from 17 April to 7 June 2026, reached 3,491 airstrikes. And we are only talking about the period during which the ceasefire that Lebanon seeks to consolidate is in effect,” the Prime Minister’s Office said after a cabinet meeting.

It added that Israel has carried out over 400 bulldozing and controlled demolition operations against Lebanese infrastructure.

“The total number of martyrs reached 3,526, and the total number of wounded reached 10,733,” the statement went on to say.

During a separate meeting with US Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa, Salam reiterated his condemnation of Iran for including Lebanon in its negotiations with Washington and demanding an end to Israel’s ethnic cleansing.

“No one negotiates on behalf of Lebanon other than the Lebanese state,” Salam told the US ambassador, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA). A new round of direct talks between Israel and Lebanon – in violation of Lebanese law – is scheduled for the coming days.

Beirut has agreed to a one-sided deal allowing continued Israeli attacks and occupation, which Hezbollah rejects.

Israel continues to decimate south Lebanon. Israeli strikes hit Khirbet Dweir, Arabsalim, and the Maachouk area of Tyre (Sur) on Monday afternoon.

Israeli strikes and artillery shelling also targeted several other areas. In south Lebanon’s Tyre, a drone strike hit a vehicle right near a Lebanese Red Cross site.

Israel has continued to threaten attacks on Beirut’s southern suburb, despite multiple warnings from Tehran and an Iranian missile attack on Israel following Tel Aviv’s strike on the Lebanese capital on Sunday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel “will not accept” Iranian strikes on Israel every time Tel Aviv decides to strike the Beirut suburb. Tel Aviv is also readying to resume strikes against Iran after bombing Tehran and other areas early on Monday.

“At [US President Donald] Trump's request – Israel halts strikes on Iran. Strikes in southern Lebanon will continue in the coming days at full strength. We will also bomb [the Beirut suburb] if the attacks on our settlements and citizens continue,” a senior Israeli official was cited as saying by Hebrew news outlet Channel 12.

The report came as Hezbollah continued to resist Israeli occupation forces in south Lebanon. Sirens also sounded in northern settlements due to suspected drone and rocket fire.

The Lebanese resistance movement said on Monday afternoon that its fighters targeted “a concentration of Israeli enemy army vehicles and soldiers on the southeastern outskirts of the town of Yohmar al-Shaqif” with an FPV drone attack

These FPV drones have killed dozens of Israeli soldiers since 2 March 2026.

Israel has been carrying out an ethnic cleansing campaign in south Lebanon with daily waves of brutal airstrikes.

Dozens of villages have been occupied, over a million citizens are displaced, and thousands have been killed by Israel in Lebanon since March.

Tehran has repeatedly warned Israel in recent days that strikes on the Lebanese capital, Beirut, will be met with retaliation. The Israeli army bombed Beirut’s southern suburb on Sunday, targeting two apartments in the Mreijeh area.

In response, Iranian forces fired over a dozen missiles at Israel, prompting it to launch heavy attacks on the Islamic Republic on Monday morning.

Iran responded with more missile attacks targeting Israeli military sites.

The Iranian military said on Monday afternoon that it has stopped operations, but warned that further violations, including in south Lebanon, will be met with “much more severe and crushing measures.”
