Sde Teiman walkout lays bare an Israeli military running out of trust

The same Israeli military base that right-wing activists once stormed to shield soldiers from military investigators now watched those soldiers stack their rifles in a heap and walk out on their own commander. On July 30, roughly 100 soldiers from the Givati Brigade’s Tzabar Battalion left Sde Teiman without permission after their battalion commander took a sledgehammer to the decorative plaques they had hung. The army said the signs were remnants of irregular “veteran-junior” traditions – informal customs governing the status of longer-serving and newer soldiers within a unit. The soldiers insisted the plaques were part of their company’s heritage, carried through Gaza and Lebanon. The distinction hardly matters. What matters is that the argument escalated until the troops abandoned their weapons, marched out chanting against their officers, and rendered the battalion temporarily unfit for the Gaza rotation it was preparing to join. Most returned by evening under threat of AWOL ...

Is Spain being punished?

Earlier this week, at least 57 migrants died while trying to cross the border from Morocco into Ceuta, one of two Spanish enclaves located on the African mainland. In a span of just 24 hours, tens of thousands of people entered Ceuta in what Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez denounced as a “violation of territorial integrity”. Many of the migrants interviewed in news reports claimed they had been encouraged to undertake the journey by social media posts. Letter from Bethlehem - Mazin Qumsiyeh

I am writing a research paper tentatively titled "Moral Courage and Moral Cowardice: Lessons from Palestine" Here is a short commentary style abstract and I would appreciate feedback on what the full paper should (and should not) cover: https://popular-resistance.blogspot.com/2026/07/moral-courage-vs-cowardice.html History rarely asks ordinary people to perform extraordinary acts. More often, it presents simple moral choices: to tell the truth or remain silent, to defend the vulnerable or look away, to challenge injustice or accommodate it. Palestine has become one of those defining moral tests of our era. It reveals not only the brutality of occupation, displacement, discrimination, and war, but also the character of those who witness these realities. It distinguishes between moral courage and moral cowardice. Moral courage is not the absence of fear. Rather, it is the willingness to act ethically despite fear, inconvenience, social pressure, or personal cost. Moral coward...

Neoliberalism To Trumpism: The Re-Normalization Of White Supremacy As State Ideology

Ajamu Baraka, Black Agenda Report . The crisis of late-stage capitalism has stripped away the liberal disguise. And revealed white supremacy as the official ideology of the U.S. state. To understand the current historical moment, it is not enough to catalog the reactionary policies of the Trump administration. One must understand the deeper ideological logic that makes those policies appear both rational and necessary to the ruling class. In the United States, the resurgence of open appeals to “Western civilization,” the demonization of immigrants, the criminalization of anti-colonial resistance, the assault on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), and the expansion of the national security state are not isolated political developments. On the contrary, they represent a conscious reassertion of a normalized racialized colonial worldview that historically has always rationalized Western colonial/capitalist conquest and dominance. The current capitalist crisis and turn to global f...

US-Israel's Losing PR & Iran Wars: Hitlerite Zionists, Waging Pogroms In Palestine by Maung Zarni

US-Israel's Losing PR & Iran Wars: Hitlerite Zionists, Waging Pogroms In Palestine & Posing Greatest Threat to Peace, Humanity & Planet Drunk with their power of propaganda, oligarchic money and mafiaesque crimes, the parasites of Zionism make humanity - not just occupied Palestinians - suffer for their suicidal pursuit of domination. If there is any political class who knows well and appreciate such war of aggression or genocides, for that matter, it has to be German power elite. Nah, Western imperialists in power, whatever the generation, have no intellectual or moral capacity to learn from history, hence the remark attributed to the German philosopher Hagel: “we learn from history that we don’t learn from history”, or something to that effect. Until Iran, the Zio-Imperialist oligarchs and their underlings, all from Israel and USA - read Fascists 2.0 with Jewish Supremacist flavour or smell - were succeeding with their project of milking humanity, including American...
