The Myanmar military continued its airstrikes on Buthidaung and Maungdaw along the western Rakhine border today, July 1, 2026, injuring at least three people, including two child, and destroying multiple homes.

At around 10:00 a.m., a Myanmar Air Force jet fighter and a Y-12 transport aircraft targeted Kyetmauk Taung, a Muslim village in Buthidaung Township. The aircraft dropped two 500-pound bombs directly onto the community.

Local villagers reported that the heavy blasts wounded multiple residents and devastated local property.

At least three people were hurt. Among them were 12-year-old Swe Dul Amin (a third-grade student), 12-year-old Mamat Aros, and 50-year-old U Amin Hu Saung.

Swe Dul Amin suffered a broken left thigh from the bomb blast. Mamat Aros sustained wounds to his lower abdomen, and U Amin Hu Saung was struck in the right eyebrow.

A seriously injured child was rushed to the nearest medical center and is currently receiving treatment.

Locals reported that they did not hear the plane flying due to heavy rain.

The strong air strikes and initial impact of the bomb damaged nearly 10 Muslim homes in Kyet Mauk Taung village. The homes belonging to U Ayatullah, U Nur Islam, Daw Hafsabibi, U Zafar, U Shaw Shu Alam, U Saw Lim, and U Bodi Alam suffered the most severe damage.

Similarly, on July 1st at around 10:00 PM, Y-12 transport planes and jet fighters continuously dropped bombs on Maungdaw town and its surrounding areas, located on the western border of Rakhine State near Bangladesh.
