Israel is destroying Gaza’s buildings and killing its people.
But the assault also extends to the land itself, with Israel systematically demolishing what remains, crushing and removing rubble to erase evidence, conceal human remains and wipe away the physical traces of Palestinian life.
Gaza’s underground landscape has a long history, from wells and agricultural infrastructure to the tunnels used for shelter, movement and resistance – what architect Eyal Weizman calls the “shadow of the political history on the surface.”
On today’s program, we’re joined by Weizman, founder of Forensic Architecture and author of the new book Ungrounding: The Architecture of Genocide, to discuss the intimate relationship between Palestinians in Gaza and the landscape, the history of its tunnels and how Israel is using architecture and environmental destruction as weapons of genocide.
In the US, a Justice Department whistleblower says the Trump administration rigged university anti-Semitism investigations, using fake evidence and breaking the law. But as Ali Abunimah will report, top Democrat Jamie Raskin and even the whistleblower’s own lawyers are downplaying the government’s real target: supporters of Palestinian rights.
