Last night I was listening to the NPR and was shocked to learn about the gruesome torture perpetrated by the US prison guards and the CIA on detainees in the Guantanamo Bay prison. Many of these detainees were sodomized and tortured in the most horrifying way known to mankind. And yet for more than a decade these tortured detainees were denied any treatment!
I am really ashamed to learn of the conduct of our government on such matters that shame our nation's image in the eyes of the rest of the world.
Evil only begets evil. Are we surprised at the brutality practiced by Daesh against its victims, citing the precedence set at the Guantanamo Bay prison and elsewhere (e.g. Abu Ghraib, Fallujah)? Such horrible acts are totally unacceptable. For America to become a model for others to follow she must set a higher standard and not a savage record that only compounds our problem in the 21st century.
Here is a link on the condition of a detainee.
