What happened Nov. 3-7, 1975 in Bangladesh?

The events between Nov. 3 and 7, 1975 in Bangladesh remain a mystery to many keen observers of the region. It was a messy history with too many players tying to change the course of history in their own way that resulted in too many deaths, some without knowing why they became a casualty of that sad episode.
Back then, I was a student at the prestigious BUET, only a stone's throw away from Dhaka University. As a politically and socially active student, I remember reading all the news reports available and collecting firsthand information from my ex-cadet college buddies then serving within the military. And yet, many important pieces were missing from the puzzle, which kept me pondering.Well, until now.
During my visit this week to Bangladesh I came across a book - Crutch-e Colonel (The Colonel in the Crutch), written by Dr. Shahaduzzaman, who teaches public health at JNU, Dhaka. He has done a wonderful job collecting valuable info from Col. (late) Taher's family members and others to put up many missing links in a coherent manner that should meet curiosities of many keen observers. He is a very good writer and one would be tempted to finish the book in one sitting although it is a 351 page long book.
I recommend the book strongly to anyone desiring to broaden his or her knowledge of the key events at a political juncture in Bangladesh.
