Chinese State-sanctioned Uyghur Imam Arrested

 

Abdushukur Rehmutulla, vice president of the Chinese Islamic Association, was reportedly arrested in March 2026.

For 12 years, he served as an imam, government representative, and prominent figure in China’s “ethnic unity” propaganda campaigns. He met Xi Jinping and was promoted by Chen Quanguo as a “model” Uyghur religious leader.

No level of obedience, cooperation, or public loyalty protects Uyghurs from persecution under the Chinese regime.
