Iran ‘victim of terrorism – Pezeshkian to Trump

 

• The second day of the annual General Debate at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York City has kicked off.
• Notable speakers on Wednesday include Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskyy and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa.
• On the opening day, United States President Donald Trump said he faced a “big decision” on whether to make a deal with Iran or “annihilate the Islamic Republic”, while also announcing that officials from the two countries held “very good” talks.
• Separately, several leaders, including Qatar’s Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Turkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, condemned Israel’s genocidal war on the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

  ‘Our people stood steadfast’ amid US, Israeli attacks, says Pezeshkian

  The Iranian president has said his country defended itself “with utmost strength” after coming under attacks by the US and Israel, who are equipped with the latest technology and advanced weaponry.

  “Our innocent people have been the targets of cowardly attacks and aggressions imposed upon our country, and we defended ourselves with utmost strength,” Pezeshkian said.

• Pezeshkian says Iran defended itself while US attacked civilian infrastructure

  Pezekshian says that Iran did respond to US attacks but added “we did not hit civilian populations.”

  “They came into surrounding territories and targeted our universities, our healthcare centres, our schools, our hospitals, our infrastructures, all of it against international law.”
