US envoy Sergio Gor leads delegation to Rohingya camps in Cox's Bazar
US special envoy Sergio Gor visits Rohingya camps. Photo: CollectedThe 14-member delegation, which includes US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen, arrived at Cox's Bazar Airport at around 12:00pm before travelling directly to the Rohingya camps in Ukhiya.
According to officials of the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commission (RRRC), the delegation first visited World Food Programme (WFP) projects at Rohingya Camp 4 to observe ongoing humanitarian assistance.
The delegation is also scheduled to visit Extension 8W camp and Camp 6 to inspect the living conditions of the displaced Rohingya and review relief operations.
Following the camp visits, the US delegation is expected to hold a meeting with the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner and other officials at North End Coffee Restaurant in Ukhiya.
The delegation is scheduled to depart for Dhaka later in the evening after concluding its visit.
The visit comes amid continued international efforts to support humanitarian assistance for more than one million Rohingya refugees sheltered in camps in Cox's Bazar and to seek a durable solution to the protracted crisis.
