Message from Electronic Intifada

 1600 UTC / 1900 Palestine time / 1900 Amman / 1700 UK / 1800 CET / 12 pm ET / 11 am CT / 9 am PT

Palestinians have just marked the third anniversary of the start of Israel’s genocide.

They are mourning, surviving and still resisting.

What have these painful years revealed about Israel’s power, the governments sustaining it and the struggle for liberation?

Where has solidarity grown, and what are its limits – especially in the West, the base of Israel’s material and ideological support?

How should we understand Zionism, Israel’s official ideology?

On today’s show, we’re joined by Columbia University professor Joseph Massad to discuss where the question of Palestine stands today.

Massad is the author of four important books: Colonial Effects: The Making of National Identity in Jordan; The Persistence of the Palestinian Question: Essays on Zionism and the Palestinians; Desiring Arabs; and Islam in Liberalism.

He’s been a regular contributor to The Electronic Intifada and writes for Middle East Eye.

Jon Elmer will report on combat footage from Ansarallah and the Yemeni armed forces’ battle with Saudi Arabia in Yemen.

We’ll also discuss Palestinian novelist susan abulhawa’s big free speech victory against Oxford Union censorship and the restoration of her full speech exposing Israel’s crimes against the Palestinian people.

Nora Barrows-Friedman brings the latest news, including Israel’s killing of civil defense volunteer Mohammad Tamous in Gaza and attacks on Palestinian olive harvesters, with a report from Roqayah Chamseddine in Lebanon.

Join Jon, Nora, Ali Abunimah and Tamara Nassar for all this and more.

Thank you for reading, listening to and sharing all our original news and analysis at The Electronic Intifada.
