Unless you belong to the “other world” which Noam Chomsky reserves for those who believe - or rather delude themselves - that God promised Jews the land of Palestine with indigenous multiethnic and multifaith Palestinians, Israel is a settler colony hellbent, from the very get-go stealing ever-expanding land mass by ethnic cleansing and erasure of the indigenous and residential Arab people including Armenian and Arab Christians.
In that regard, Israel is NOT doing anything more criminal, more genocidal, more savage and more barbaric than any other settler colonialists with deep root in what is called Europe, continental and isles. The pioneering criminal rogue entities of US, Canada, most of Latin American states, Australia, New Zealand, former Rhodesia, S. Africa etc. that came before Israel were all founded on European savagery, theft, loot and “race” and Christian superiority.
Many a descendant of such savage thieves that hailed from the Old/Christian Europe would readily admit or acknowledge their countries’ dark and criminal beginnings, to their credit.
But settler colonial land-thieving states such as USA continue to behave, well, savage, criminal and barbaric.
For 17 years, I studied USA up close, lived and worked there - never a naturalized citizen - until I could bear no more my own existential dissonance of paying taxes and participating in its social space while coming to see its mass murderous savagery worldwide - and at home. So I eventually binned my right as “a political asylee” , to reside and to become a naturalised American.
Decades before Trump’s American gestapo (aka ICE), I “self-deported” myself back to my “shithole” Myanmar only to end up in another European state that colonised the native country of my foreparents.
I came to loath the big American settler colony for continuing to pursue Zombie-like savage foreign policies non-stop for 200+ years (a modern Exhibit A: the destruction of Iraq post-9/11, inter alia) and keeping the black people in perpetual and deadly subjugation.
To my dismay, Leftists and Liberal Internationalists in my circle wore their knee-jerk bellicose “patriotism” on their sleeves.
On the way to San Francisco International Airport in October 2005, I cried my eyes out strapped in the shotgun seat as my close Burmese friend drove me from my home in Berkeley where I held so tight my only young daughter - then in kindergarten - as a gesture of Good Bye.
