CAIR-NJ Condemns Neo-Nazi Vandalism Targeting Synagogue

 The New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NJ), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the reported neo-Nazi vandalism targeting a synagogue in Lakewood, New Jersey, in what authorities are investigating as an antisemitic bias incident.

Nazi swastikas were discovered inside the synagogue, prompting an investigation by law enforcement. CAIR-NJ welcomed a thorough investigation into the incident and urged authorities to hold those responsible fully accountable.

In a statement, CAIR-NJ Public Affairs Director Naureen Akhter said:

“We strongly condemn this hateful act targeting a house of worship and stand in solidarity with the Jewish community in Lakewood and across New Jersey. Nazi swastikas are symbols of terror and genocide, and their use to intimidate worshippers is an attack not only on one faith community but on our shared values of religious freedom and human dignity. We urge law enforcement to conduct a full investigation and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.”

She noted that earlier today, CAIR’s Michigan chapter condemned the distribution of antisemitic flyers to homes in Berkley and Southfield.

Washington, D.C., based CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
