A man in his 30s was shot dead in Tel Aviv-Jaffa overnight Sunday, while two other men were seriously wounded in separate shootings in Jaffa and the southern city of Rahat, Israeli emergency services said.
Police said they opened a murder investigation into the killing of Mohammed Katwan, a resident of Jaljulya. Police added that large forces were conducting extensive searches for suspects and collecting evidence at the scene.
An Israeli emergency services team that arrived at the scene said: "There was a lot of commotion at the scene; we saw the wounded man unconscious, without a pulse or breathing, with severe penetrating injuries to his body."
A second man in his 20s was seriously wounded in a shooting on nearby Rabbi of Lelov Street. The emergency services team that treated him said he was "fully conscious and suffering from severe injuries to his body." He was evacuated to Wolfson Medical Center in Holon.
In Rahat, a 25-year-old man was also seriously wounded in a shooting overnight, Magen David Adom said. He was evacuated to Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva.
According to a Haaretz tally, 196 people have been killed in violent crime in Israel since the beginning of the year, including at least 160 from the Arab community. The figures underscore the persistent wave of violent crime in Arab society. In 2025, 249 Arabs were killed in Israel, compared with 233 in 2024 and 242 in 2023. In 2022, before Itamar Ben-Gvir became national security minister, 108 Arabs were killed in Israel.
Two days earlier, a man in his 30s was shot dead on Jerusalem Boulevard in Jaffa. Emergency services said he was evacuated to Wolfson Medical Center in Holon, in central Israel, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said that, in addition to the shooting, vehicles were set on fire and a grenade was thrown in Jaffa overnight.
